Information about the city: The country is constituted by some 1200 islands, 4 of which 203 are inhabited. The territory is located in the Indian Ocean, southwest of Sri Lanka and 450 km from India. The capital and, at the same time, the most populated city is Malé.



Language: The official language of the Maldive Islands is the dhivehi.

Official time: The official time in Maldives is GMT + 5, that is, 4 hours more than in Spain during the winter and 3 hours more during the summer.

Inhabitants: 387,669 current population.

Currency: The official currency in the Republic of the Maldives is the Maldivian Rupee (MVR), better known as Rufiyaa. Currently, one euro equals approximately 17 rupees of the Maldives.

Religion: the vast majority of the Maldivian members of the official religion, Sunni Islam.












Weather: With an average of between 6 and 8 hours of sunlight per day, the temperature is usually between 26 and 31ºC, while sea water is between 27 and 29 degrees throughout the year.

Best time to get there: the best months are usually those that go from November to April, since during that time there are less chances of rain and the days are sunnier.
